Currently, we are seeking a Service Asset Configuration Management (SACM) Practice Lead. This role supports our Navy customer in Lexington Park, MD.

Working collaboratively with other Service Management Practice Leads, Customer Leadership POCs and other stakeholders, the SACM Practice Lead will develop and institute a fully functional SACM Practice within the  Customer’s Service Management Office. The SACM Practice Lead will also help to improve process performance and capability through provision of verified, current and auditable configuration items (Cis) received or imported from interfaces with other IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and functions. This is a crucial role within the customer’s Service Management Office as you will be responsible for ensuring that all other Service Delivery processes and technical functions have access to the right data at the right time.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • This role enables the management and controlled change of the customer’s systems, network, assets, and software based on sound, accurate configuration data; all of which contribute to reducing risk, manage cost and reduce impact to the business.
  • Facilitate the design/development and deployment of a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) using the current tooling platform and other supporting asset and configurations data repositories with goal to have all supported assets and CIs contained in a single CMDB instance if possible or secondarily via a federated Configuration Management System (CMS) solution using various data repositories and overseeing the process to manage the CIs against the policy and procedure standards.
  • Provide the description, mission statement, roadmap, strategy, process objectives and metrics to measure success and obtain formal approval for the SACM process and its associated procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Customer’s SACM Plan, Policy & Process is created to include Definition of scope (e.g., whole Department), definition of Configuration Items (CIs – service assets that need to be managed to deliver the service), creation of interfaces to other processes, etc.
  • Reporting to the Service Management Office Process Architecture Lead, this position will develop, deploy and sustain the SACM solution for the Customer. Responsible for the development of a project plan to include all phases of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. e.g., requirements definition, integration with other tools, preparation for the implementation, workflows, setup of the tool, project management, etc.).
  • Providing guidance and leadership to the SACM process practitioners with the organization.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all CIs are identified as documented in the SACM plan and new CIs follow the same identification Standard as defined in the SACM Plan, creating policies and detailed procedures to ensure that everyone knows what to do and what is authorized; controlling the identification process to pass audits that will be performed ad-hoc to validate the data.
  • Clearly define responsibilities among the people involved in the SACM process, as well as their relation to other processes, e.g., Release and Deployment Management.
  • Monitor and review the execution of the SACM process at a high-level, ensure it remains consistent with the organization’s current culture and IT Service Management strategy and ensures coordination with all other IT processes.
  • Performing regular audits of the CMDB and verification that all CIs match the physical infrastructure. This may be done in concert with embedded SACM process practitioners in the organization. Investigating discrepancies and ensure prevention of such situations in the future.
  • Manage, monitor, review and update all procedural documentation and work instructions.
  • Manage any new requirements or changes to the Process.
  • Coordinates design work for CI and Asset discovery, integrations, and other data import methods

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have experience working in a DoD environment.
  • DoD 8570 certifications (Security+ or equivalent)
  • Skills using Microsoft Office applications to build reports
  • Clearance: Must have an active Secret clearance. Top Secret / SCI preferred.
  • Experience with the development and deployment of SACM capabilities within an IT organization to include administration, process integration, deploying CMDB operations across the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work under pressure with tight deadlines and an appetite for learning is essential.
  • Understand how the CMDB platform underpins the Service Asset & Configuration Management process and how, in turn, this enables all other processes to operate effectively.
  • Understanding of interfaces with other processes and/or business functions to ensure they can leverage the benefits provided by the Asset and Configuration Management process.
  • Expected to use individual knowledge of SACM to coach and provide guidance to SACM process practitioners embedded within the organization in order to drive standardization where possible while enabling needed process ‘tweaks’ that might be required to fully support a specific group’s mission.
  • Stay abreast of all development as it relates to external regulatory bodies and industry standards & technologies evolving.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the DNA business and be able to influence outcomes while being pragmatic and open to looking at alternatives which support the business & IT strategy.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management processes (ITIL) and how Configuration Management underpins these.
  • Experience of working in a Configuration Management role.
  • Comfortable with reading, understanding & managing SLAs, Contractual agreements & monitoring their effectiveness.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • PMP is a plus
  • ITIL 4 certification is a plus

Education Requirements: Bachelors degree preferred.

Security Clearance: Secret (must be a US Citizen). Top Secret clearance preferred.
